Table Top Siege Engine Rules
The Engine:
The only requirements for a siege weapon to participate in the contest be
that it must be grounded (engines cannot be hand held or hand aimed) and be
safely able to throw a bean bag. Engines that can not throw a beanbag with
in the safe dimensions of the target shall be disqualified.
Target Construction:
The "Court Yard": External wall shall measure approximately 5 1/4"
H X 3/4 D and 18" L and 5 1/4" H X 3/4 D and 16 7/16" L, outside
diameter shall be 18" square.
The Tower:
You will need a Jenga game or a similiar style game. It shall consist of rows
of three block eash stacked fifteen rows high. The blocks shall measure 3/4"
high X 3/4 deep X 2 '/4" L.
The "Court Yard" can be cut out of one standard 1" X
6" X 8' board costing as little as $6 at your local home improvement
center.
The "Rock"
Ammunition shall be a bean bag. For the purpose of this game we shall use
a hackey sack. Ammunition shall be provided so that the competitors must adjust
to the "enviroment" as our historic counter parts would have to.
Scoring:
As you are laying siege to to a "castle" with a large tower, your
purpose is to lay waste to the castle walls and its contents.
1. A hit in the air to any wall shall earn you 1 point.
2. Your "rock" landing inside the "Court Yard" shall score
2 pts.
3. A hit in the air knocking down a portion of the tower not exceeding row
5 shall receive 3 points.
4. A hit in the air knocking down a portion of the tower exceeding row 4 but
not exceeding row 10 shall receive 4 points.
5. A hit in the air knocking down a portion of the tower exceeding row 10
shall receive 5 points.
6. If a Rock lands in the "court yard" and then rolls or bounces
and hits the tower shall score 2 points.
The Tower will be reset between each shot where the "tower" has
been struck.
The Game:
The Competitors will fire three shots each from five, ten and fifteen feet.
The siege engines must be making contact with the line when firing. Engines
may be repositioned between shots, but may bot be "aimed" during
firing. The competitor with the highest scores shall be victorious.
